It's not the size of the kayak that matters, it's how you move in tight places.

So I have been spending some time reading more of my new favorite author/series. It's set in the sanibel/ten thousand islands region and the author is Randy Wayne White. It is fairly mindless reading and I have been enjoying the hell out of it. If you get a chance to read something of his give it a shot. I think you will enjoy reading some fiction that takes place in places you might actually know. Scott
PS, Sorry fishhead no pic's you may have to have mrs fishhead read it to you.
PPS, sorry Luna, no gayly identified flowers. But hey, at least you can read!

He has a couple restaurants in Sanibel & Ft Myers Beach, Doc Fords, that are pretty good too.

Fishon/IFishhead: this guy lives across the road from the Tarpon Lodge. I caught him out paddle boarding on visit:

Scott, I dug up my favorite summer camping in the glades video for your entertainment. Part one of 5 m.youtube.com/watch?v=urOXNAjku0QMy friends Bill and Toby are crazy old timers that like to train for watertribe events in the summer time. They have to date perfected some techniques to make the heat and bugs bearable. I choose to watch from my air conditioned condo.

Glad you enjoyed them, lots to learn from these two old guys. I hope you will post fun stuff for me to read when I am in repair mode next month, I am collecting many books I have been meaning to read. Have you ever watched the Doi Nomazi adventure travel videos? Here is one of the many on their channel vimeo.com/channels/travelotherapy/57174193this strange couple we met on picnic then on pavillion and they did not talk to us or even acknowledge our presence but insisted in camping so close to us it was weird. Plus, all their gear was black and their kayak was black and they spoke in Romanian accent. Luckily, one of our friends is Romanian and was able to translate so we were assured they were not spies. I do enjoy the video work they put a lot of time into these. Plus, they seem to be a cute couple.

Scott, he is quite the character. Very approachable and flat out full of fun stories and in general a nice guy. I have run into several times on the water down there. Once while waiting out a lightning storm so stories got told. He is also quite an accomplished cook and ahs a cook book he wrote on cooking with chili peppers.

We paddled the beautiful Everglades every winter for the last five years, but landed only twice at Picnic, in 2012 and 2013. The basic assumption is that other paddlers want to be left alone to enjoy nature... Both places, Picnic and Pavilion, are large enough to offer a bit of privacy and we'd never camp that close to anybody. Or, not purposely. We're really sorry you felt weird and thought we didn't acknowledge you. Although we try to never bother anybody with our presence, we always say at least hello to people and we receive quite a bit of advice about the Everglades. And, yes, we get questions about our black yak too... Hopefully, we'll get a chance to say hello in person next time and maybe you teach us a better fishing technique because in 5 years of paddling in the Everglades we caught only one fish. Well, my wife did... Best regards and thank you for watching the videos. A.

It was December of 2012 we had very similar itinerary. You camped next to our friends Alex and Erica on Picnic then they joined us on Pavillion and you both showed up later that afternoon. We also saw you when you were going into the Chatham we were on Mormon after pavillion. I love your videos and sorry we did not get to talk to both of you. Next time I see you out there I will be sure to come over and introduce myself. Maybe I can get an autograph Do you work in the film industry or have any training in film making? Our itinerary is on this blog, some nasty winds that year! beachcamper.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Yes, I remember Alex and Erica and I remember talking to them at Picnic in 2012.... Alex paddled along a bit on our way to Picnic and that's how we started the conversation. We were already talking when we landed at Picnic... Yes, in 2012 we went up Chatham River and then continued south on the interior. This past winter we just stayed on the outside all the way to Flamingo. The videos are just travel journals for fun... Hopefully, more city folks will fall in love with nature and realize that anybody can go out and enjoy. More videos to come... Let's hope we'll be able to say hi next time. It will be our pleasure. But you must teach us how to catch at least one more fish... Regards, A.
