I went out with a guide on Tuesday along with my brother from TX. Too windy for the flyrod (we tried) but using spinners/live pinfish we got into a mess of fish - reds, snook, jacks, bluefish. Nothing huge, but put bends in the rods and my brother had a great time (which was what I wanted most).
He was informative - telling me best times for flyfishing reds/snook are late fall/winter. Right now fish are spooky he says.
Will go out again with same guide in a few weeks. One of the things he does is gets a boatload of greenbacks and goes to a open-water spot and starts chumming with them ...... then break out the flyrods for nonstop action (jacks/ladies/blues mostly, but always some reds and occasional snook.
