Just about ready to pull the trigger on a Bixby Jet system for the Bonafide SS127. Looked at the Torqueedo, and while more powerful, hangs off the stern, and is almost three times the wt.(25# for Torqueedo vs 9# Bixby., and almost twice the price) Since I already have a rudder system, having the motor that can be adapted to the center pod of the Bonafide is a plus as well. Battery strength is fine for what I will be doing, and can stow in the sliding drawer beneath the seat. Below is a page from Bixby showing the mount and pod adapter. bixpy.com/bixpy-pod-adapter-bonafide-kayaks/
Cool beans, Sailor. Let us know how the rigging works out.
You are heading into the dark side. I've been using the Torqeedo for paddle assist for a long time and absolutely love it. I've found the best way to use power is by motoring at 2 mph or less and paddling. The battery will last you for ages and you can paddle all day without issue. Good luck.
Not much rigging involved, pretty much just plug and play. The mount comes already attached to a Bonafide pod, so I just take out mine, and insert theirs. Charge the battery, connect the two, and I am good. Has a magnetic kill switch on the battery, plus a wireless remote.
