If I would have lived up north where it is actually cold, I would not have been able to get up in the morning. I would not have been able to get to work on time. I would have been on welfare Anyone here planning any fishing trips this week? I am waiting it out until Friday. Got the canoe seat lowered last week making it a sit no kneeling boat. Hated it! I got the seat back up to the way it was and will have to find a way to get my ankle to twist and get under seat. It’s been 4 months from the “incident” I am walking minimum of 7000 steps per day and doing strengthening exercises. Ankle feels good. I also need to see if I can walk on sand so will be visiting a beach soon to check. Plan is to head out to do some fishing on the out islands. As soon as winds die down, I will be on water to get canoe figured out again.

Viv, I'm doing a trip on Saturday to the St. Johns River with my son. Going to try for the St. Johns Super Slam - bluegill, crappie, bass, and shad. Will take pics ....

what canoe do u have now ? Krash, I have Connie’s old Kevlar vagabond she bought a new vagabond last year. I replaced the seat with a newer one it’s still the stock web seat. I reinforced the thwarts by removing and riveting as they were loose from too much use. I also re installed the footbrace with the simple Vivían wing nuts vs the wenonah knob. But this is my tripping boat as the Tarpon 120 is slower and takes more effort to go the distance than the Vagabond. AP, that would be a fun trip for sure take pics and hope you have some luck. Would be interested too in your selection of flies for bass and bluegill.

The canoe setup was a huge success!!! I got the seat high enough to get my foot under it with minimal twisting. I wore a pretty robust ankle brace to keep my ankle from twisting. But after 4 months, I am back in the game I can comfortably fish from the canoe for many hours. Fishing was great this morning but tides were extreme, water dropped to negative number my 9 am. Caught lots of trout, snook, jacks, giant lady fish and mostly on my fly rod. My new and improved clouser was a hit. I will tie a new one as the fish destroyed it so no pics.

Glad you had success Viv. The St. Johns trip was a bit of a disappointment. We caught one (giant) bluegill and shockingly no crappie. My son did get a huge bowfin but no bass. We did end up connecting on a few shad - got 3 to shore, lost another 3-4 after hookup. But fishing was s-l-o-w. Cold and windy weather right after a front - never my favorite conditions for fresh or salt.

Fishing after a front is hard and harder in wind and cold. You at least caught something. Heading camping tomorrow to take advantage of low winds for two days. Unheard of, it’s been constant wind for weeks.
