Another reason to use the Instant Pot is when you forget to un-freeze your dinner ...
Had to put something together fast the other day - I had a bag of frozen wings in the freezer. Took them out to cook in the Instant Pot - I think it adds 5 minutes to your overall cook time.
Instant Pot Chicken Wings
Pour 1 cup of water or broth into the bottom of the instant pot. (I used chicken broth) Place the trivet or steamer basket inside the pressure cooker.
Place the frozen chicken wings on the trivet or inside the steamer basket.
Close the lid and turn the valve to sealed.
Cook on high pressure and set the timer. for 15 minutes After the cooking is done, do a natural release pressure for 5 minutes.
Release the remaining pressure and remove the wings from the instant pot.
Toss chicken wings with of any sauce you have. (could be a Buffalo sauce, a BBQ sauce, etc ... I used a Catalina Dressing!) Broil for a few minutes or until golden on one side, then flip the chicken wings and broil the other side.
Brush or toss with the remaining sauce and serve.
I made this the other night -- used some leftover butternut squash (sour cream on top), some fresh strawberries on the side, and then the wings on a bed of romaine lettuce.
Wings are super-delicate and meat falls right off the bone.
I do the same thing with chicken breast. Sometimes when weather is not conducive for outdoor cooking or feeling lazy, I use this recipe for cooking chicken in the instapot. BTW, rice comes out awesome cooked in the instapot as well as squash and in minutes!
