Salutations Everybody.
New member here; introduction below:
Florida native living up here in the Jacksonville/Saint Johns area. I haven't fished as much as I should have, but I'm working on changing that.
I just bought my first fly fishing outfit about a month ago. I went out a few times while I was home; unfortunately, I'm still learning to get that fly out there. It is a little more difficult than I imagined. No fish hooked yet, but I'll get one next time.
I just purchased fly tying equipment, so I'll have that going when not fishing. Plan to start with clousers, baitfish, and maybe some basic crab patterns.
I was originally looking into a kayak, such as the Jackson Kayak Kraken 15.5, but I believe I may now end up buying a Dragonfly 13.6 SUP after I finish deciding how I want it set up.
As far as work/occupation, I work on Tugboats & Towboats on the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico. Gone for 28 Days, Home for "14" (2 days are travel). Plenty of time for fishing.

Welcome! Former USCG 100T Capt. here. Good choice on the Dragon Fly. I was stationed in Jax in the Navy so I'm familiar with the area, and you should have many options for fishing there. If you get down to this area , definitely let us know.

Welcome Pinaappleorange ... DF 13.6 is ideal for standup fishing, if you have any questions about them I have a wealth of knowledge and check out our SUP/Paddleboard section.
Look up (google) Palm Beach Pete (Peter Hinck) hes a long time dedicated Dragon Fly guy (employee and staffer of Dragon Fly Paddleboards).
MPO - is get it just as they come with gear track options. I'd also opt for the shallow water fin from DragonFly rather that try to find or adapt some other fin for shallow water fishing. Pete had a custom enlarged under deck hatch where the optional forward 5" round hatch would be, normally its just a 6" well under the hatch his is large enough to hold a six pack, but I always used the cooler as a dry box to carry all my gear. If I was buying a new one I'd pass on the Engle cooler they offer so long as you have them install tracks in the area where the cooler goes so's you can tie it down. The attachment method they use is a screw down center of the bottom of the cooler, not user friendly as you have to empty the cooler/drybox to secure it to the board.

I really like the idea of adding the GearTracs. Do you happen know what their turn around time is? Have you ever felt the need to stand on a cooler to gain additional height. Seems to be the only reason, aside from looking cool, I might want a Engel DeepBlue or Yeti Tundra over the Engel Dry Box/Cooler.

It's not the size of the kayak that matters, it's how you move in tight places.

PO, taking this post to the SUP thread, so as not to hi-jack the Welcome thread..... although you are welcome to post what ever you wish here...
