Got out this am, for a quick trip to see how the sound is reacting to the red tide. No issues noticed. Went north towards Big Jim Creek, and quickly found juvee tarpon feeding and rolling along the mangroves.
Jumped two, one to the boat, small(20-24"), but well hooked on my inline topwater. to make things more interesting in the dark, the lure hooked to my anchor trolley line as well. I never make things easy.
Next one jumped was 36+, but had issues with my GoPro. Followed them up and into Big Jim Creek, and lost them around 0830. It was hot and called it a day around 1000. Planning a trip out to Black Key, tomorrow, weather permitting.
I know a place, 30-60 inch Tarpon, fresh water but they are more than frustrating and seldom take an artificial bait... small lake maybe 100 yards wide and 1/4 mile long, they show at sunrise and make their way around the lake rolling and chasing small glass minnow like bait fishes. Can't launch a kayak, no even supposed to park there, but many people know of the spot and hit it but few seldom connect. Then by 9am they are just gone as quickly as they showed up, some days they just don't show.
