OK, enough fun. On the 5" lure, it allows a 4/0 or 5/0 hook to penetrate just forward of the first jointed section, giving the lure the best chance to move like it should. The tarpon I caught a few years ago was caught on a 5", and the lure ran up the line, but the hook set was solid.
Sorry, didn't see this post. I have gone exclusively to Gamakatsu superline weighted hooks. They slip through the elaztec stuff just fine, and are super strong. I use the 5/0 on my 5", and 4/0 on the smaller ones.
