Here are some ties that I use for the shad run on the St. Johns. But these flies don't just catch shad -- I think I have caught 9 different species on this fly. Crappie, bluegill, redear (shellcracker), redbreast, pumpkinseed, warmouth bass, black bass, channel catfish, mudfin. OK, 10 if you also include shad. The only fish I have yet to catch on it (available in the St. Johns) is a hybrid striper.
I use different weight lead-eyes depending on current and depth needed. Easy tie, takes only a minute or so to tie 'em up. #6 hook.
